Why almost nobody needs a custom ERP
If your business sells, invoices, manages inventory, runs payroll and has customers, Odoo already does it. The world has been solving these problems for 20 years. Your case, barring proof to the contrary, is already solved.
What you need to do:
- Properly configure the modules you need.
- Disable the ones you don’t.
- Customize ONLY where your business is genuinely different.
When does custom make sense?
- Operations with workflows that don’t exist in any ERP on the market.
- Very specific regulatory constraints (some cases in healthcare, defense, energy).
- Companies with > 200 people where custom TCO is justified.
If none of these apply: Odoo. Almost always Odoo.
